The House Welcome to our website

Hafod-Y-Garreg is a grade II* listed medieval farmhouse, that long ago was a hall house. The house has been confirmed by dendro dating as the oldest dwelling in Wales.

Although no longer a working farm there is Rosie the goat, and hens that give you fresh free range eggs for breakfast.

The house is hidden in a hollow surrounded by hills and larch forests that turn golden in autumn. It overlooks the Wye Valley and this stretch of the river Wye is considered by many as the most beautiful. Just walk in any direction and the landscape is criss-crossed with footpaths and bridleways, not a soul in sight, a stress free retreat, there cannot be many places more peaceful or idyllic.

The atmospheric bedrooms have antique fabrics, beautiful bed linen and stylish bathrooms, Spoil yourself and have dinner in the beamed candlelit dining room at the 16th century refectory table, or eat at one of the local excellent gastro pubs.  Breakfast is a huge affair with free range eggs from hens that lay blue and green eggs.

All this comes for £65.00 for a double room or £85.00 for the family room which sleeps 4. Dinner is available for £19.50 for three courses (bring your own wine).
